You mash buttons for jabs and kicks but the real fun comes from chaining moves into slick combos that send opponents crashing into trash cans or flying off fire escapes. The physics engine adds weight to every punch, see how concrete cracks under repeated blows or how a well placed uppercut launches a goon into a bus. Play solo through the story mode or challenge a friend on the same couch for chaotic local multiplayer. The game's rough around the edges but the fast paced combat and responsive controls keep it engaging. It's not going to win any design awards but fans of old school beat 'em ups might appreciate the straightforward approach. With 12 unlockable fighters and a training mode the replay value holds up decently. It lives on Switch and PS4 mostly because no one has bothered to port it to modern consoles yet.
