Urban Strife casts you as a reluctant leader of a ragtag militia defending a crumbling community from zombies and rival survivors. Manage resources, recruit eccentric fighters, and balance diplomacy with combat in this turn-based strategy RPG. Each decision impacts your base’s stability and relationships with fractured factions. Battle mechanics emphasize positioning and specialty skills while exploring a narrative driven by morally gray choices and fractured alliances. The game stands out for its gritty atmosphere and layered strategy. A focus on character quirks and resource scarcity creates tension, pushing players to adapt to shifting threats. Early access reviews highlight the depth of faction interactions and the pressure of managing a vulnerable population. Launching December 10, 2024 for PC, it offers a bleak but thoughtful take on survival strategy with over 20 hours of main story content.
Your story begins in the fictional county of Urban, a small community somewhere in the southern US, two years after an extinction level pandemic almost wiped out the human race. The few surviving pockets of humanity are fighting a losing battle, barricaded behind makeshift walls, with dwindling supplies and hope. This is when you begin to play your part. You’re rescued half dead and nursed back to life by the kind people of Urban Shelter but it soon becomes clear you’ve not arrived at the best of times. The survivors are frightened, weak and either very old or very young. They need a bold hero desperately to break out of the cold embrace of death outside their walls. Are you their savior? Or their worst mistake? You need to rebuild and strengthen the Shelter, explore the stories of all sorts of disturbed characters that might become your best friends or worst enemies, play your cards right in the faction power struggles and when time comes, have enough resources and allies for the mother of all battles.
