Vantage Master Portable is a tactical RPG with strategy elements designed for PlayStation Portable. It revamps the original Vantage Master with new characters from The Legend of Heroes series and a wireless-enabled multiplayer mode. The game uses a grid-based combat system where positioning and timing matter. Controls are adapted for the PSP's buttons and touchscreen dropping the PC mouse entirely. Battles take place in 3D environments though the core mechanics remain unchanged from the 2003 PC release. The remake focuses on visual and audio upgrades. Orchestrated music replaces the original tracks adding depth to tactical encounters. Multiplayer lets up to four players face off locally or online. While the interface feels streamlined for portability the game retains the same challenging difficulty and grid-based tactics that defined its predecessor. Nihon Falcom released it in April 2008 as a direct follow-up to the PSP version announcement late the previous year.
