Vengeance of the Chicken is a point-and-click adventure where you play a literal chicken on a revenge mission. After your feathery sibling is killed by an assassin's botched shot, you step in to settle the score by targeting the killer's brother. The game uses mouse-driven controls with right-clicks to cycle between actions like moving, examining objects, or interacting. A top-screen menu lets you manage inventory, save progress, or tweak settings. The dialogue and scenarios lean into dark comedy, with the chicken's limited vocabulary and slapstick moments balancing the gory premise. This cult classic stands out for its absurd humor and minimalist design. Created by Ed Day as part of the Reality-On-The-Norm project, it embraces a low-poly art style and intentionally crude animations to amplify the satire. While short and rough around the edges, it’s often praised by fans of offbeat indie games for its commitment to its ridiculous concept. The game’s niche charm and cheeky take on revenge narratives have kept it circulating in retro gaming circles, with some forums calling it “the weirdest thing you’ll play all week.”
After his brother ends up dead due to an assassin's misfire, the Chicken - yes, an actual chicken - decides to shoot the killer's brother as an act of revenge. The player's goal is to get the Chicken's mission to a successful, bloody end. The game is controlled with a mouse; similarly to Sam & Max Hit The Road, right-clicking changes the cursor action (Walk to, Look at, Interact with, Talk to), while moving the cursor to the top of the screen makes a menu appear, allowing you to easily change the cursor actions, access one's inventory or save/load/quit the game.
