VHS Slaughter drops you into the role of a college student stuck working late shifts at a video rental shop. One night you stumble on a mysterious VHS tape left outside the store. Curiosity turns to dread as the tape warps your reality into something sinister. The game blends inventory-based puzzle solving with exploration of a retro video store layout. You piece together fragmented memories and cryptic clues left on tape to uncover what happened after that fateful night. The game leans heavily into pixelated visuals and warped audio to mimic analog media decay. A creepy synth score loops just long enough to unsettle before cutting to static. Community feedback notes the effective use of found-footage style sequences and the tension of rewinding tapes mid-pursuit. Released in early 2023 it maintains a 72% on Metacritic from 15 reviews. Best played with the volume low and a flashlight handy. Runs on most modern PCs with integrated graphics.

His life was never the same.
