Vigilance is a 1998 third-person shooter where you play as one of eight agents in a counter-terrorist group. The game lets you switch between first and third-person views mid-action, blending close-range gunplay with strategic overviews. Each agent has distinct skills and gear, encouraging teamwork in co-operative modes. The single-player campaign tasks you with sabotaging hostile operations while the co-op modes let you and a friend take on missions over LAN or the now-defunct Heat.net service. The perspective toggle and character variety set it apart from peers. Though largely forgotten, its flexible combat and early online multiplayer drew praise from retro gaming circles. Nostalgia players appreciate the raw 90s aesthetic and the option to play with a partner, a rarity in the genre at the time. Its lack of modern polish isn’t a barrier, just a reminder of its era.
