VSCS-II

About

VSCS-II is an adventure simulator wrapped in a retro '80s computer aesthetic. You manage a terminal interface to trace encrypted messages, hack into hidden systems, and follow digital trails that expose corporate and government secrets. Choices branch the story into different endings based on how you manipulate data flows and trust relationships. Gameplay relies on text-based commands and logic puzzles rather than action mechanics. The game’s strength lies in its atmospheric design and layered narrative. Its simulated operating system mimics old-school DOS with green text on black, complete with glitchy animations and period-accurate jargon. While it lacks open-world exploration, the tightly wound plot and moral dilemmas about data ethics have earned praise from early access players. Released in February 2024, it runs on PC and takes 8, 12 hours to complete depending on playstyle.
