Wake Me Up If You Need Me is a visual novel where you play a sleep-deprived student tackling calculus at all hours. Your only lifeline is a perpetually drowsy friend whose grumpy demeanor hides a surprisingly helpful streak. The game unfolds through text-based conversations as you balance pushing through homework and navigating his increasingly irritable responses. It’s a lighthearted slice-of-life with a focus on dialogue choices that shape your frustrating yet oddly endearing friendship. The charm here is in the contrast between your frantic problem-solving and your friend’s slow-witted replies. While the story is brief, the writing leans into relatable academic stress and the weird comfort of late-night study sessions. Released in March 2024, it’s a niche pick for anyone who’s ever stayed up too late with a textbook and a questionable study buddy. The minimalist art and snappy scripting keep things moving, even if the plot doesn’t go far beyond its premise.
Being a night owl, you naturally have trouble sleeping. Sleep is important for the average person, but you're a university student who loves to do their homework from 12AM onwards. Luckily, you have a friend that's literally a call away! Why're you taking calculus? I don't know, calculus is pretty hard. But it's okay, just ask him to help you. He's been your friend for a while after all!! He sounds rude, but don't worry that's just cause he's sleepy<3 Just be sure to try and communicate properly with each other, okay? I would hate for you guys to argue.
