About

War Wind II: Human Onslaught is a real-time strategy game set on the alien world of Yavaun. Players control one of six factions ranging from warlike aliens to human scientists. Balance resource gathering base building and unit production while adapting to shifting battlefield conditions. Each group has distinct units and abilities with humans focusing on mech suits and experimental tech. Combat emphasizes positioning and unit synergies rather than brute force. The game stands out for its deep strategic layering. Faction differences create varied playstyles with Marines prioritizing aggressive assaults and Descendants relying on defensive research. Multiplayer modes offer tight competitive matches that highlight the system's balance. Despite its 1997 release many still praise the AI's unpredictability and the way maps encourage creative problem solving. Over 20 years later it remains a touchstone for fans of tactical depth in RTS design.

Storyline

After many years of war, much has changed on the world of Yavaun. Humans, reluctant colonists, are now part of the cultural diversity of this alien world. Factions have formed over the decades since the humans appeared. The Overlord Factions includes the allied forces of Tha'roon and Obblinox. The SUN (Servants Under NagaRom) are represented by Shama'Li and Eaggra. Of the two human factions, the Marines are comprised mainly of Marines and the Descendants are scientists and academics.
