"Warframe has now successfully launched on two PlayStation consoles in a row, and both times as a launch title. Once again, this is the place to play if you don't have a PC that can play the game at high settings. The PS5 is also the only place to play where haptic feedback plays into how the game feels. This helps to cement the DualSense controller as less of a gimmick and more of an accessory that enhances gameplay. Even without those enhancements, though, Warframe on the PS5 is a showcase-worthy action game that every console owner has truly free access to. Ninjas play free, after all!"

About Warframe

Warframe launched back in March 2013 as a free-to-play action RPG shooter created by Digital Extremes. You play as a Tenno warrior clad in high-tech armor who wakes up from centuries of cryo-sleep into a solar system tearing itself apart. The Grineer Empire hunts you down while you fight to survive using powers that let you run on walls and slash through enemies. It is available on almost every modern console including PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This title mixes fast movement with heavy RPG progression systems where your gear defines your build more than your character class.

Gameplay

A typical session involves jumping between planets to complete missions that range from simple data extraction to massive survival waves. You control a Tenno in Warframe armor that allows you to vault over obstacles, dash across walls, and deploy special abilities like slowing time or summoning energy projectiles. The combat feels frantic since you constantly move while firing automatic weapons or slicing with swords. Players can squad up with three others for co-op raids or tackle solo content alone. You spend the bulk of your time grinding resources to craft new frames and weapons while upgrading existing gear to handle harder enemy types.

What Players Think

The PlayPile community finds this title intense, with some players labeling it story-driven or competitive. Critics on OpenCritic gave it a 73 out of 100 score while the IGDB rating sits at 74.1 based on 480 reviews. Roughly half of those critics recommend it though PlayStation LifeStyle and God is a Geek both awarded it a solid 90. Twitch currently ranks the game at number 90 in trending titles. Players have unlocked an average of only 16.2% out of 193 total achievements. The rarest feat "K-Driven" has been earned by just under 1 percent of the user base, showing how deep the grind can get for dedicated fans.

PlayPile's Take

Warframe is worth your time if you enjoy long-term grinding and fast-paced combat over a tight narrative. The price is free to start but you will likely spend money on cosmetics or speed up your progress. With 193 achievements available, this game demands hundreds of hours before you see everything. The low average unlock rate proves most people quit before finishing the harder content. You should play this if you want a shooter where movement matters more than aim and you do not mind spending months building your arsenal.

Storyline

They were called Tenno. Warriors of blade and gun: masters of the Warframe armor. Those that survived the old war were left drifting among the ruins. Now they are needed once more. The Grineer, with their vast armies, are spreading throughout the solar system. A call echoes across the stars summoning the Tenno to an ancient place. They summon you. Allow the Lotus to guide you. She has rescued you from your cryostasis chamber and given you a chance to survive. The Grineer will find you; you must be prepared. The Lotus will teach you the ways of the Warframes and the secrets to unlocking their powers. Come Tenno, you must join the war.
