About

Warp is a fast-paced sci-fi shooter released in 1989 for Amiga and Atari ST/STE. Thalion Software designed it as a straightforward action game where you control a stolen spacecraft to blast alien strongholds across 26 levels. The player faces waves of enemies using two basic weapons while navigating scrolling screens filled with destructible environments. The story centers on a thief-turned-savior who hijacks a ship to stop an alien invasion, adding a slight twist to the classic hero narrative. The game stands out for its aggressive pacing and repetitive but addictive wave-based combat. With no power-ups or upgrades, success relies on quick reflexes and memorizing enemy patterns. The criminal protagonist’s back story offers a minor narrative hook for its time, though the focus remains on pure arcade-style challenge. Community records note the 26-level structure as surprisingly ambitious for late ’89, with some retro players praising its no-frills intensity.

Storyline
