Watching from Afar is a platformer where you never see your own body. Instead you jump and climb across floating islands through the eyes of strangers nearby. Your cursor controls their movements letting you push them off edges or nudge them toward danger. The fairy curse that landed you here forces you to view everything indirectly, from wide eyed toddlers to squinting hikers, each blink or stumble becomes your feedback loop. Hard mode removes checkpoints making every misstep feel more frustratingly indirect. The twist of secondhand agency creates a strange emotional distance. You’re constantly aware of unseen bodies moving through the world while you guide them like marionettes. The floating island level design plays well with this perspective hiding shortcuts in the blind spots of other characters. Early access players note the 7 hour runtime feels longer due to the disorienting viewpoint. It’s a platformer that questions how much you really own your own actions.
