Well is a first person platformer that demands precise movement and patience. You navigate a crumbling magic well by strafing between narrow platforms, leaping across gaps, and recovering from inevitable slips. Each of the four levels ramps up the challenge with tighter spacing and trickier paths. Scattered journals hint at the well’s dark history, though the real story reveals itself through environmental clues and sudden narrative twists. The controls feel responsive but the difficulty curve is steep, expect to retry sections multiple times. The game’s standout moment arrives halfway through when a seemingly simple task triggers a shocking shift in tone. Returning a ring to an old woman unravels into horror as she transforms into a monstrous antagonist, thrusting you into a new realm of combat and exploration. While the story takes a sharp turn from quirky to grim, the platforming remains the core focus. Players report a 70% completion rate on Steam, with many noting the frustration of near misses balances the satisfaction of progress. The art style and sound design amplify the eerie atmosphere without overexplaining.
Spoiler Alert: A grandma stands outside of a well, when you interact with her, she tells you she dropped her ring down the well. You go down and you discover the ring on a dead guy. You grab the ring and bring it back to the grandma, she puts it on then turns into a monster, revealing her true form. The monster then thrusts you back into the well and you break through a floor at the bottom, revealing a whole other world. There's a man named Road that tells you the monsters name was Phreinch and you must kill him to save the world. Lore inside the well hidden in journals explain a deeper explanation of what happened before you showed up.
