About

What Lies in the Multiverse casts you as The Kid, a wide-eyed newcomer to a chaotic multiverse, teaming up with Everett, a sharp-tongued scientist with a knack for dimension-hopping. This 2D platformer blends puzzle-solving with brisk, physics-based jumps as you cross bizarre worlds. The story follows their uneasy partnership while evading shadowy pursuers, mixing absurd humor with moments that grapple with loss and fixation. Dialogue crackles with dry wit, and each level introduces wacky environmental twists to navigate. The game’s charm lies in its tonal balance: cartoonish visuals and slapstick gags give way to surprisingly poignant character beats. Community ratings highlight its 92% Metacritic score, praising the writing and inventive level design. While the 2D format keeps things accessible, deeper mechanics like shifting gravity and time loops add challenge. Available on multiple platforms since 2022, it’s a compact adventure that leans into indie creativity without overcomplicating itself.

Storyline

When a gifted boy (known only as The Kid) is zapped into a totally new universe, he encounters Everett - a sarcastic, eccentric, and mysterious scientist with the power to shift dimensions. Bonded with a dangerous mutual curiosity for parallel worlds, they embark on an investigation into the unknown. Together they venture off to a strange island where they will find key answers about Everett's past and the universe, all while being hunted by old yet dubious acquaintances who are looking to capture them and put a stop to their dimension shifting shenanigans.
