About What We Carry

What We Carry is a strategy RPG with dark gothic themes from LuckXDesign Studio. Released March 31 2026 it drops you into a world where your view is limited to your own character’s silhouette. You navigate randomly generated event cards and survival challenges that force you to weigh every decision. The game blends resource management with branching narratives where consequences linger. Best for players who enjoy methodical play and moral ambiguity. It’s available on PC and costs $29.99.

Gameplay

You control a character represented only by their shadow. Each session starts with a randomized map of events that pop up as card encounters. You manage stamina hunger and a “weight” stat that increases based on carried items and past decisions. Combat isn’t traditional, instead you resolve conflicts by choosing actions that deplete resources or shift story outcomes. The UI is minimalistic but clunky at times especially when juggling multiple stats. Sessions often last 45 minutes to two hours with permadeath adding tension. The game’s pacing leans slow but later choices create compounding stakes.

What Players Think

On PlayPile it holds an 83% rating from 12,400 players with 85% from critics. Average playtime is 37 hours but only 44% finish the game. Community moods: 38% contemplate the narrative 29% feel tense 18% are curious. Achievement completion sits at 72% with 87 total to unlock. One player wrote “The limited visibility mechanic is brilliant but the difficulty spikes at Act 3.” Another griped “Too many text walls with no fast travel.” Critics praise the “morally gray storytelling” but some call the UI “needlessly obtuse.”

PlayPile's Take

This is a niche title for strategy fans who enjoy slow burns and heavy themes. The $29.99 price is fair but don’t expect a smooth experience, the UI and pacing issues will frustrate casual players. With 87 achievements it rewards patience but 56% abandon it after 10 hours. If you’re into survival mechanics and dark narratives give it a try. Just keep extra snacks for the long stretches of text.
