Wild 9 is a side scrolling platformer with 3D visuals from Shiny Entertainment. You control Wex Major a teen wielding The Rig a tool that acts as a lasso and weapon. Use it to pull objects hurl enemies and solve puzzles across ten levels. The game balances platforming with combat as you avoid traps and battle bosses. Each stage requires timing and creative use of The Rig to progress. The Rig’s versatility defines the experience letting you manipulate environments and enemies in tandem. The story follows Wex recruiting mutant allies to fight the alien warlord Karn. While the PlayStation era visuals are dated the level design remains tight. Released in 1998 it stands as a lesser known but inventive entry in Shiny’s catalog blending action with puzzle solving.

Storyline

Wex Major is a teenager from Earth whose parents were kidnapped by aliens. Traveling through space, Wex comes into contact with a powerful weapon system known as The Rig. Apparently the young boy is the only one who can harness the power of The Rig, and he is proclaimed The Great Champion, a legendary leader who can rid the oppressed people of the Andromeda Galaxy from the tyranny of the evil gigantic monster named Karn. Wex recruits other teenage mutants and becomes the leader of Wild 9, an organization that aims to overthrow Karn and liberate the galaxy.
