Wing of Alnam follows a ragtag group of heroes battling a warlord harnessing ancient energy to build weapons of mass destruction. As a turn-based RPG, you control up to four characters who hack, cast spells, or use special moves powered by a resource meter. Progression focuses on grinding for magic points to unlock spells and slowly power up. The story unfolds through dialogue and linear quests, with a focus on Kusumida, a teen orphan caught in a conflict spanning millennia. The game mixes 3D environments with 2D character models, a setup common in early PlayStation RPGs but still effective for its era. While the combat loops and grinding can feel repetitive, the atmospheric worldbuilding and character interactions keep the narrative engaging. A sequel with roots in 90s Japanese RPG traditions, it offers straightforward tactical battles and a mythic scale story.
50,000 years have passed since Kenbu and his friends defeated the ultimate evil. The world of Alnam needed a long time to recover from the dreadful cataclysm that left its mark on it forever. The events of the past continued to affect the present society, and an ancient source of energy was used by the leader of the Maya Duchy for military purposes, as he began converting it into poisonous gas in at attempt to conquer the world. A fourteen-year-old orphan named Kusumida becomes involved in the grand struggle and must put an end to the Duke's plans before it is too late.
