Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus launched on October 26, 2017 as the eleventh entry in the franchise. MachineGames developed this title while Bethesda Softworks published it across PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. You play as William Joseph Blazkowicz returning to a dystopian America where Nazis won World War II. The story picks up immediately after you escaped the fortress in the previous game. Now you are aboard the stolen U-boat Eva's Hammer plotting an uprising against the occupation forces. This single-player adventure continues the narrative of the Second American Revolution with a heavy focus on personal revenge and large scale combat scenarios.
You navigate most levels on foot from a first-person perspective while using a cover system for protection. The campaign splits into chapters that you complete in a specific order to advance the plot. A binary choice early in the game changes character appearances and minor story details based on your decision. Combat relies heavily on dual wielding weapons, letting you switch between heavy firepower and rapid fire options mid-fight. You can carry multiple guns at once and swap them instantly during gunfights. The environment often forces you into tight corridors where you must manage your ammo carefully while engaging waves of soldiers.
PlayPile data shows strong reception with an IGDB score of 84 out of 100 based on 623 user ratings. Players describe the vibe as Atmospheric, Cooperative, and Hardcore in their community tags. The average completion rate suggests a focused experience rather than a long drawn-out slog. Review snippets from our members highlight the emotional weight of the narrative choices made during the prologue. Price trackers indicate the game hits its historical low of 5.99 dollars on GOG, representing an 85 percent discount. This pricing point makes the full campaign accessible to new players without breaking the bank.
This title is for people who want a linear narrative driven shooter with high stakes and emotional beats. The price of 5.99 dollars offers significant value given the length and production quality. You will earn achievements by completing chapters and making difficult choices that alter the timeline. MachineGames built a game that demands attention to detail in its gunplay mechanics. Skip this if you prefer open world exploration or multiplayer modes since it remains strictly single-player focused. The story concludes with a clear arc that rewards players who stick through the final chapters.
After the events of the first game, in which General Wilhelm "Deathshead" Strasse is eliminated, the Kreisau Circle retrieves the critically injured William "B.J." Blazkowicz from Deathshead's fortress before destroying it with a nuclear cannon. He. is still recovering from his wounds on a stolen U-boat called Eva’s Hammer. Suddenly, the U-boat is attacked by Frau Engel, a sadistic Nazi commander and captures Caroline. Blazkowicz devises a plan to get himself captured and taken to Engel's airship, the Ausmerzer, which is suspending the U-boat above water. Engel tries to get her daughter Sigrun to decapitate Caroline, but the former refuses, resulting in Engel killing Caroline herself. Sigrun has a change of heart and tackles Engel, allowing Blazkowicz to use Caroline's armor. Blazkowicz disconnects Eva's Hammer from the Ausmerzer and flees back to the U-boat with Caroline's body. Now armed with Caroline's armor, B.J is ready to return stateside, avenge his friends, kill every Nazi in sight and spark the second American Revolution.
