World Cup '98 France: Road to Win is a Sega Saturn football title built around the 1998 World Cup. It reuses the core engine and mechanics from Sega’s 1998 soccer releases but adds new teams and a tournament mode. Players manage squads through qualifiers and World Cup matches, with arcade-style controls and stadium crowds as key features. The Road to Win mode lets you simulate a team’s journey from prep to the final. This game is the last Saturn entry in a series dating back to 1995’s Victory Goal. It shares much with earlier Sega titles but is distinct from FIFA’s concurrent World Cup game. The next version in 1999 was a complete reboot for the Dreamcast. Niche but polished, it’s a snapshot of late 90s sports gaming for Sega loyalists.
