Worm Whomper casts you as Felton Pinkerton, a farmer racing to defend his corn from swarms of hungry pests. Armed with a pesticide sprayer, you shoot bugs before they gnaw through rows of stalks displayed on the screen. Each wave mixes inchworms, moths, and slugs that grow faster and more plentiful as levels advance. Let any critter reach the corn, and your harvest shrinks. The game hinges on quick reflexes and timing, with single-player challenges and split-screen multiplayer for added pressure. This 1983 Intellivision title leans heavily into its frenetic pest-control premise, offering simple but tense action. Its co-op and competitive modes for two players were rare for the era, and the escalating difficulty keeps rounds short but replayable. While not a technical standout by modern standards, it remains a niche example of early arcade-style shooters, with a focus on chaotic bug-slinging that still works as a quick mental workout.
