Worms: Open Warfare is a turn-based strategy game where you command a squad of squishy combatants. Take turns moving your worms across destructible terrain, using a mix of explosives and gadgets to whittle down enemy health. Each round gives you 60 seconds to act, with one attack allowed per turn. Weapons range from bananas rigged to explode to guided missiles and air support. Battlefields shift as water levels creep upward and supply crates rain down, forcing you to adapt tactics on the fly. The 20-minute round timer adds urgency, collapsing all remaining health if the clock hits zero. This creates chaotic sudden death scenarios where every move matters. Released in 2006 for DS and PSP, it revived Team17’s 2D style before the sequel Open Warfare 2. With customizable teams and maps, it’s a tense blend of planning and quick thinking. Players appreciate the deep weapon variety and how terrain becomes part of the fight, making each match unpredictable.
