You and a friend take on Mario and Luigi as they smash their way through block-stacked stages. The goal is simple: whack every stone wall until it crumbles. Use hammers, dig through dirt, and navigate hazards in real time. The challenge comes from tight level design and a need for precision, timing your swings wrong means more work later. Playable with either character, it’s a competitive co-op loop where both players share the same lives and points. What keeps it fresh is the level creator, letting you build and save custom maps. While the Japan-only hardware required to store these levels limited its reach, the core demolition gameplay aged surprisingly well. With a 4.5/5 average on older gaming forums, many credit it as a proto-blueprint for later demolition/puzzle hybrids. The lack of modern ports feels odd given its lasting charm, but the Wii U and 3DS releases still make it reachable for dedicated retro fans.
