X-Blaster pits players against each other in 3D mecha battles where customization and strategy matter. Choose from three mech types each with distinct weapons and abilities. Upgrade your rig in a base area called the hangar. Fight in real time with others in arena-based combat. The focus is on quick reflexes and adapting your loadout to counter opponents. The game ran on web browsers in 2006 which was unusual for mecha shooters at the time. Multiplayer lobbies let you test builds against live players. While not graphically intense by modern standards the fast paced action and build variety kept players engaged. Some community members still reference its no frills approach to competitive mecha combat.
