X Men 2 Clone Wars throws you into a side scrolling brawl against a cosmic threat called the Phalanx. You play as mutants like Wolverine Cyclops or Magneto leaping over obstacles and blasting enemies in 1995s sequel to the original X Men Genesis game. Each level scrolls left to right with punchy combat and power attacks tailored to each characters abilities. The controls feel tight for a mid 90s platformer with some level design that mixes mutant themed stages from jungles to sci fi labs. The biggest change from the first game is the expanded roster letting you switch between seven mutants including Magneto a rare villain pick. Multiplayer modes let two players team up or battle separately. While not as celebrated as other Genesis titles it holds a cult following for fans of 90s X Men media. With its fast action and mutant power variety it still feels like a solid throwback to Sega Genesis platforming at its peak.
