XZR II: Kanketsu-hen follows a warrior named Sadler navigating the chaos of the Christian Crusades. This 1988 RPG tasks players with guiding him through political and religious turmoil as he pushes for a unified world under a single faith. Turn-based combat and party management drive the experience while exploration spans medieval strongholds and war-torn landscapes. The PC-9800 Series MSX2 and PC-8800 versions all feature the same core mechanics wrapped in era-appropriate graphics. The game’s sharp focus on historical fiction sets it apart from typical fantasy RPGs of its time. Though it follows the same protagonist as its predecessor the story takes a dramatically different turn here with more explicit themes of religious conflict.
