Yamiyo ni Sasayaku: Tantei Sagara Kyouichirou follows detective Kyouichirou Sagara as he investigates missing girls aboard a luxury cruise ship. The story unfolds through branching dialogue and investigative actions where players click to examine objects, question characters, and review evidence. Unlike traditional visual novels, it adds direct interaction with environments, letting you scan rooms, check maps, and manually inspect suspicious items to uncover hidden clues. Choices and discoveries influence how the mystery resolves. The sequel builds on its predecessor by swapping static narration for more hands-on exploration. Players control Sagara's movements and inspections, creating a semi-interactive layer over the visual novel format. While not widely discussed in modern circles, it carved a niche for itself in 2006 with its hybrid approach. The PlayStation 2 title offers a straightforward mystery with light puzzle elements, appealing to those who want to click their way through a story without deep combat or complex systems.
Anya ni Sasayaku: Tantei Sagara Kyouichirou (Eng. "Whisper in the Night: Detective Kyouichirou Sagara") is a mystery adventure game featuring detective Kyouichirou Sagara, and a sequel to Tsuki wa Kirisaku: Tantei Sagara Kyouichirou. This time, the mystery takes place on a luxury liner, when you are trying to solve the mystery behind the disappearance of girls on board the ship. Unlike the typical visual novel style, you will have a bundle of new commands you will be able to use to search the locations more thoroughly. You can look around, talk to NPCs, check the items in your inventory, check the location map, or manually use cursor to look at interesting places and objects you can interact with while searching for clues.
