Ys Memories of Celceta is a fast-paced action RPG that follows Adol Christin as he navigates a mysterious forest to reclaim his lost past. Set in a frontier town surrounded by an endless tree sea, the game emphasizes real-time combat and exploration. Players use quick reflexes and weapon switches to fight monsters while solving environmental puzzles. Adol partners with a cryptic companion to complete hazardous missions for the Romun Army, figuring out secrets about the dangerous Celceta region and the motives of those around him. The PS4 and PC version upgrades the 2015 Vita original with 60 FPS, HD visuals, and refined controls that replicate touch-screen mechanics. English or Japanese voice options were added via a free PC patch. Released in July 2018, it offers roughly 15-20 hours of play with branching paths and optional quests. Longtime fans praise the game’s tight combat and energetic pacing, though newcomers might find the story’s reliance on classic RPG tropes familiar rather than impressive.
A bustling town deep in the frontier at the foot of an endless sea of trees... It is into this wild and untamed setting that a young man collapses, memories gone and only his name to guide him. Bereft of his past, Adol Christin wanders the town of Casnan searching for clues to his identity. Joined by a man who claims to know him, the young adventurer helps rescue doomed miners from a monster outbreak - an act which attracts the attention of the Romun Army Governor General in town. Impressed with their skills, the pair is enlisted to explore the Great Forest of Celceta and map its vast expanses - a task which many have attempted in the past, but from which none have ever returned alive. With only his wits to help navigate this strange and uncharted frontier, Adol must brave the perilous forest as he struggles to regain his memories and decide whom he can trust, and who is simply attempting to take advantage of his memory loss in order to deceive him...
