About

Yuurei-kun is a quirky shooter-platformer where you control a buck-toothed ghost named Mr. Ghost. The game switches between side-scrolling and vertical-scrolling sections as you battle other ghosts, spiders, and crows while navigating shifting environments. Your main move is summoning a tiny, sperm-shaped ghost to attack enemies, which must return to you before you can deploy it again. You can also charge forward to smash bricks or take out stealthy foes. The gameplay feels fast and tactile, with simple controls and surprisingly deep interaction with the world. What lingers is the absurd charm. The cartoonish visuals and chaotic combat make for a memorable mix, even if the story about lost souls and trapped friends gets tangled in its own setup. Released in 1989, it holds up as a clever, niche take on 80s action games. Few titles let you fling a ghost like it’s a living paper airplane while dodging spectral bullies, this one has personality, even if it’s stuck on an ancient platform.

Storyline

"Ghost-kun" who suddenly became a "ghost" at one point was in a hurry. It's hard because I don't have any memories of the past. The "soul" called "Ochokotama" that appeared there said, "My friends are trapped in hell. Please help me." The story became more and more complicated. I'm full of myself ... But there seems to be something, you may know something if you meet the Great Enma. Thinking so, "Ghost-kun" goes to hell with "Ochokotama"...
