"For the most part, 7th Sector breaks down into a decent first half where you play as a ghost traveling almost entirely along wires as a shining point of energy, bridging gaps and powering machinery through puzzle-solving in order to progress, and a second half that sees you possessing various types of robots and fighting through some ill-advised action sequences. There’s a complete and utter refusal to explain what the puzzles are asking of you that can be refreshing at first—if only because so many games hold your hand—but this charm wears off as a direct result of the finicky action sequences."

Zector 7 is a sci-fi survival game where you scavenge, build, and battle through a harsh alien world. Team up with friends or go solo to gather resources, craft weapons, and upgrade vehicles ahead of nightly waves of hostile threats. The map is dotted with derelict military posts, crashed spacecraft, and ancient ruins to loot. Progress relies on balancing exploration with base security, stockpile ammo, reinforce defenses, and trade with others to outlast each cycle. What sets it apart is the mix of tight combat loops and expansive world design. Players can tackle challenges in co-op or dive into the broader multiplayer ecosystem. Early builds from the developer suggest a focus on accessibility without oversimplifying survival mechanics. SocksandGoats Studios’ latest effort hits PC on October 25, 2024.
