Zombies by BRAM Inc. is a 1983 Adventure/Puzzle game that blends combat with spatial reasoning. Players navigate 13 interconnected dungeons filled with 129 rooms, battling zombies snakes spiders and other threats. Between fights they solve puzzles to unlock paths toward seven crowns needed to stop the evil cleric Wistrik. The Atari 8-bit version supports two-player co-op letting friends tackle challenges together. The game stands out for its mind-bending level design inspired by M. C. Escher’s optical illusions. These visually impossible structures force players to rethink movement and strategy mid-session. Though originally released in 1983 it saw a 1984 re-release as Realm of Impossibility under Electronic Arts. Its mix of action and geometric puzzles remains a niche curiosity for retro gamers seeking something offbeat.
The player must traverse 13 dungeons to gather seven crowns to defeat the evil cleric Wistrik. The dungeons the hero must traverse make use of visual effects, similar to those found in M. C. Escher's work, to create physically impossible scenarios. These structures serve as a basis for puzzles which must be solved in-between the fighting in order to proceed.
