Amaze Entertainment at a Glance

Amaze Entertainment operated as an American developer from 2004 through 2009, though the company itself was founded in 1996. Their output was concentrated entirely in the 2000s with nine released titles on PlayPile. They worked across a wide range of genres, including five adventure games, three platformers, and various other types like fighting, sports, shooters, and strategy. Despite this variety, their catalog is heavily tied to popular media licenses. Their top rated title is X-Men Origins: Wolverine from 2009, which holds an average score of 71.5 out of 100. Other notable entries include The Lord of the Rings: Tactics at 69.8 and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 at 67.5. The quality of their work shows a clear trend toward the middle ground. Out of eight rated games, five received good scores between 60 and 79, while three fell into the mixed category between 40 and 59. They have no titles that reached great status above 80, nor did they produce any poorly rated games below 40. This suggests a consistent output of average to decent licensed games rather than standout masterpieces or total failures. Their lowest recent release was Disney Friends in late 2007, and Shrek the Third from May 2007 scored just 54.7. Amaze Entertainment focused heavily on console hardware. Five of their games appeared on the PlayStation 2, five on the PlayStation Portable, and four on the Wii. They also had three titles for the Nintendo DS and two for the Xbox 360. Only a single game reached platforms like PC or legacy mobile devices. The company was known for developing movie tie-in games, which explains the high number of licensed properties in their library such as Samurai Jack, Indiana Jones, and Call of Duty. In July 2009, they merged with Griptonite Games to end their independent run.
