GameHouse is a casual game developer, publisher, digital video game distributor, and portal, based in Seattle, Washington, United States. GameHouse distributes casual games for PC and Mac computers, as well as for mobile devices such as phones and tablets (on both iOS (iTunes) and Android (Google Play and the Amazon Appstore)). GameHouse offers 2,300+ online and downloadable games, consisting of both in-house produced titles (such as the Delicious series) and third-party games. GameHouse was founded by Ben Exworthy and Garr Godfrey in 1998. In 2004, GameHouse was acquired by RealNetworks. After the acquisition, the GameHouse studio continued operations as a developer, while its games were distributed via RealNetworks, and the GameHouse game portal continued to operate alongside the RealArcade gaming service. On November 3, 2009, RealArcade had announced they are merging with GameHouse to create a large distribution platform. Such plans include migrating the accounts of users from RealArcade, offering discounts and special offers to GamePass members and new social community opportunities. The merger was completed on November 13. As a result, all customers visiting the RealArcade website are redirected to Gamehouse.com.
GameHouse has been a steady presence in the casual gaming space since its founding in 1998 in Seattle. Today you can find 83 of their titles listed on PlayPile, with the company acting as both publisher and developer for much of that catalog. Their output grew significantly during the 2010s when they released 47 games, compared to just 23 titles in the 2000s and 11 so far in the 2020s. This recent slowdown suggests a more cautious approach or perhaps a shift away from high-volume production. The company focuses heavily on accessible genres that do not require complex hardware. Their top categories are Adventure with 36 titles, followed by Puzzle and Strategy which both have 25 games each. They also publish Simulator and Point-and-click games to round out their library. Most of their work is built for PC with Microsoft Windows supporting 80 titles. Mac users get 36 options, while mobile reach extends to 33 iOS apps and 31 Android games. The platform list shows they tried other devices like the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable in the past, but those releases were single instances. Quality ratings for GameHouse are generally solid but lack standout masterpieces. Out of 21 rated titles on PlayPile, only two achieved a great score of 80 or higher. The majority fall into the good range between 60 and 79, while two games sit in the mixed category below 60. There are no poor ratings in their reviewed list. Some of their best work includes Heart's Medicine: Time to Heal from 2016 and Delicious: Emily's True Love from 2011, both scoring 80. Luxor remains a notable older entry with a score of 70.2. Their recent activity shows they continue to release games regularly despite the lower count in this decade. Titles like What, the fox in late 2025 and Jewel Quest: Match 3 Adventure in late 2024 keep their name visible. The company was acquired by RealNetworks in 2004 and later merged with RealArcade to form a larger distribution platform. This history explains why they manage such a large portal with over 2,300 games available online or for download. They rely on both in-house series like Delicious and third-party content to fill their catalog.
