Acrobat Mission is a 1991 arcade shooter where you control a pilot defending Mars from alien invaders. Choose Jet or Nova to pilot the Icarus, a nimble spacefighter armed with a standard laser, a wide spread shot, and a cluster-firing Hurricane shot. Each weapon has a unique charged attack and damage profile. The Icarus bounces off obstacles instead of colliding but takes hits from enemies. Two smart bombs can be carried under the wings, though they drop easily and blow up if struck. When your shield runs out the ship spins wildly giving a brief window to rack up final kills before destruction. The game’s collision system and smart bomb mechanics stand out, blending reflexes with tactical risk. Released during the Super Nintendo’s rise it brought arcade-style intensity to home consoles. Players note the tight controls and escalating boss battles as highlights though the 1991 release date means it lacks modern polish. Still it holds a cult following for its aggressive play and distinct energy.
At the year 2100 A.D. Humans were exterminated by their own self-destructive nature leaving behind the consequences of environmental degradation on earth and were forced to escape to Mars leaving a bio-computer for environmental recuperation of earth to preparing the blue planet for future recolonization. But one day a half a century after humans arrived, mars was attacked by strange flying objects. To fight these enemies, the director general of the Defence Agency organized the task force army and started quickly the dogfight with invaders to neutralize the invasion. The operation was called 'Acrobat Mission' as it exceeded the technical limits of the pilots.
