Air Raiders is a 1982 Atari 2600 shooter where you control a jet fighter from the cockpit view. Launch by pressing fire and pulling back on the joystick. The plane tilts left or right when you turn, adding a tactile realism to flight. Your mission is to target enemy aircraft while managing your horizontal position across a tracking bar at the screen's edge. Dives that are too steep end in crash landings. Dodging flak zones is critical, misjudged maneuvers cause nose dives. Recovery is possible but staying airborne requires careful timing and spatial awareness. The game's tilt mechanic sets it apart from other arcade shooters of the era. Critics were divided, with some praising the hardware-specific simulation and others finding the controls finicky.
