About

Ambrosia casts you as Flode, a young priestess thrust into a mystery on the island of Cerbes. After being exiled for a church scandal, she manages a shrine while figuring out ancient secrets tied to a missing monster woman. The game lets you approach its dungeons in any order, balancing exploration with dialogue choices that shift relationships and outcomes. Combat mixes turn-based strategy with relic upgrades, while side quests flesh out the island’s quirky residents and their ties to the warring gods of light and shadow. The game’s quiet character moments and moral ambiguity set it apart. Flode’s loyalty to her faith clashes with her bond to Noir, the island’s old god, creating a subtle conflict that threads through every interaction. With a Metacritic score of 82, players praise its art style and branching narratives. Though the dungeon order flexibility can lead to early frustration, the payoff in later acts, where your choices reshape the island’s fate, feels earned. It’s a smaller RPG with big thematic heft, clocking in at 20-25 hours with optional lore dives.

Storyline

Flode is an apprentice priestess who dutifully serves the God of Light, Leight. Her life is peaceful until one day, she gets swept up in a scandal involving the family of the local duke. The church officials decide it's better to send her away until the fuss cools down. She then makes her way to the remote island of Cerbes, where she's tasked with managing the old shrine and spreading the word of Leight. While things seem difficult at first, Flode's earnest attitude soon wins over the hearts of the local populace, and she even manages to befriend a monster woman! However, things take a dark turn when her new friend is captured, and to free her, she must find the legendary treasures spread across the island. Things seem hopeless, but it just so happens that the shrine Flode is living in was built on holy ground belonging to the old god of the island, Noir, who's willing to lend her a hand. Will Flode succeed in her quest and stay true to her faith, or will she become a follower of Noir?
