About

Arc the Lad III follows Alec, a teen haunted by the destruction of his village, as he teams up with friend Lutz to take on bounties and uncover secrets. Guided by a desire to become a Hunter like the one who saved him, the pair gets tangled in the Academy’s schemes, a shadowy group with its own agenda. Combat mixes turn-based strategy with flexible positioning, letting you tweak formations and upgrade gear with found materials. Spells and skills add depth to fights, while the story weaves personal stakes with broader mysteries about the world’s fractured past. This 1999 RPG leans into tactical depth without overcomplicating its core loop, balancing exploration and battle with steady pacing. Though overlooked at launch, it’s gained a small but devoted following for its layered storytelling and reams of character customization. Re-released on multiple platforms, it still holds up as a niche but rewarding entry in the genre. Metacritic scores hover around 70, reflecting its cult status over time.
