About

Battle Garegga is a fast-paced vertical shooter set in a gritty 1940s-inspired world warped by industrial machinery. You play as one of two brothers piloting custom aircraft, battling Federation forces that weaponized their family's blueprints. The game’s standout twist is its realistic bullet colors, which blend into chaotic backgrounds to ramp up tension. Collect power-ups mid-scroll, switch between four distinct planes, and tackle waves of enemies in single or co-op modes. The arcade roots show in its tight controls and replay-friendly structure. The game’s charm lies in its retro aesthetic and clever quirks. Hidden unlockables let you play as characters from Raizing’s Mahou Daisakusen series, adding a quirky layer for series fans. While its 1996 release date means visuals feel dated, the difficulty curve and precise shooting mechanics have earned it a cult following. Community forums often highlight its punishing yet fair challenges, with many praising how the bullet design forces constant focus. A niche title that still thrills in short, intense bursts.

Storyline

Mathew Wayne, a resident of a small country town, was a mechanical genius whose aptitude and skills were passed down to his sons, Brian and Jason. After gaining leadership of his automobile factory from him, the brothers' skills became renowned throughout the country. Eventually, the Federation approached the brothers with an extremely profitable contract to help produce military vehicles for it. The Wayne brothers accepted the contract and created weapons without peer. A short time later, the skies turned dark with the Federation's encroaching airfleet, and towns and cities everywhere were ravaged by these armies—including Brian and Jason's home town. To their horror, the Federation was using the weapons and vehicles they themselves had designed to reshape the land to their pitiless will. Taking up planes whose designs had never been submitted to the Federation, the Wayne brothers prepare to destroy the Federation's mad scheme. They are aided by the four heroes from Mahou Daisakusen.
