Blades of Vengeance is a side-scrolling platformer where players take control of one of three fantasy warriors. Each character has distinct moves and strengths which can help in navigating levels filled with enemies and hazards. Up to two players can team up in co-op mode to tackle the game’s varied stages. The focus is on precise jumps timing and using each warrior’s abilities to overcome obstacles. Levels range from simple platforming to sections requiring quick reflexes and strategic thinking. The game stands out for its cooperative play which was uncommon in 1993. Three unlockable characters add some variety though the core mechanics remain straightforward. The 16-bit visuals are bright but basic with enemy and level designs that fit the fantasy theme. While the difficulty spikes in later stages it rewards steady progress. Players who enjoy classic platforming with a focus on teamwork might find it nostalgic but it lacks the polish of later Mega Drive titles.
