You play as Saya Otonashi a schoolgirl with no memory of her past who discovers she can fight Chiropterans monstrous creatures lurking in the shadows. The game mixes exploration and over the shoulder brawler combat as you slash through enemies while figuring out a story about bloodlines and ancient curses. Battles require timing and quick reflexes with a focus on fluid melee attacks and dodges. Between fights you move through pre rendered cutscenes and simple platforming sections that advance the plot. The game stands out for its anime influenced visuals and tight action sequences that balance story driven moments with frenetic combat. While the PS2 hardware limits environmental detail the character designs and animation keep the experience engaging. A mix of family drama and supernatural stakes drives the narrative but the real hook is the rhythm of fighting and figuring out Saya's past. Shorter than most RPGs it still manages to pack in enough twists to satisfy fans of the franchise.
