"Overall Bloodborne is a fantastic game and could be considered one of the best exclusives available on the PS4 so far. The gameplay will not be for everyone, with the difficulty and repetition a potential turn off, but if you are looking for a new challenge, Bloodborne is a fantastic choice. The twisted atmosphere of Yharnam, the great design of the monsters, and the fear it can instil within you is something that won't be forgotten in a hurry. There's a time when you realise a game will be revered and spoken of fondly years from now, and Bloodborne will be one of them."

Bloodborne launched on March 24, 2015 as a dark action RPG developed by FromSoftware for the PlayStation 4. You play as a Hunter who has ingested strange blood from Yharnam and must survive a cursed night where reality blurs into nightmare. This single-player experience features optional multiplayer elements that let you see other players' messages or summon allies to fight bosses together. The game mixes gothic horror with Victorian aesthetics while challenging your reflexes in tight combat encounters. It stands as a defining title for the console generation, offering deep lore and punishing difficulty without holding your hand through the story.
You move forward with aggressive melee attacks that require precise timing rather than blocking everything. Your weapons can shift forms to change attack patterns or add elemental damage mid-combination. The real twist is the visceral dodge mechanic that lets you roll into attacks and instantly counterattack, creating a fast-paced rhythm. You explore interconnected zones filled with dangerous beasts while managing your health and blood echoes used for leveling up. Combat feels weighty and lethal where one mistake often kills you instantly. Multiplayer sessions allow you to drop phantoms into other worlds to help or get invaded by hostile players who try to stop your progress through the city streets.
Critics loved this release with a Metacritic score of 92 and an OpenCritic average of 91 out of 100. Ninety-eight point one five percent of critics on OpenCritic recommend the title based on their reviews. The IGDB community gave it a rating of 91.4 from over 1,781 user scores. PlayPile members describe the vibe as Atmospheric with four votes and Emotional for three others. Some users also noted the Cooperative nature of the multiplayer system despite its optional status. Reviewers like God is a Geek called it thrilling while VideoGamer praised it as an intelligent evolution. The average playtime suggests players spend many hours mastering these complex encounters and uncovering hidden secrets within Yharnam.
Buy this if you want a brutal challenge that respects your intelligence and punishes mistakes harshly. At launch it cost the standard price for a new console exclusive but remains worth it today. Players can earn various achievements by defeating every boss or collecting all weapons in their arsenal. This is not a game for everyone since the difficulty spikes early and stays high. You will spend hours learning enemy patterns and perfecting your timing before moving forward. The price tag reflects its status as a masterful piece of work that defined a generation rather than just another entry in a crowded market.
