Boku no Natsuyasumi 3: Kitaguni-hen - Chiisana Boku no Dai Sougen is a quiet life simulator set in rural Hokkaido during August 1975. You play as a fourth grader spending summer at his uncle's farm while his sister is born elsewhere. Days involve chores like feeding animals and collecting eggs, exploring fields and forests, and bonding with Midori the cousin. The pace is slow and unstructured, with no set goals beyond making the most of 60 simulated days. Simple mechanics focus on time management and relationship-building through small gestures like sharing snacks or playing games. The game thrives on its nostalgic charm and open-ended design. Players often cite the peaceful atmosphere and attention to seasonal details like weather shifts and harvest cycles. While it lacks combat or complex puzzles, the emphasis on mundane rural life creates a meditative experience. Though largely overlooked outside Japan, it maintains a dedicated fanbase drawn to its gentle storytelling and pixel-art visuals. The PS3 port adds modern convenience to a formula refined over three entries in the series.
This time the fourth grader Boku goes to his uncle and aunt's farm in the wide-open countryside of Hokkaidō on 1st August 1975. It is the same period as the previous two games, so once again it is an alternate universe sequel. He is dropped there by his father as his sister will be born that month. His uncle and aunt have a daughter called Midori who has the same age as Boku.
