Cyber Speedway is a 1995 Sega Saturn racing game with a cyberpunk twist. You pilot sleek high-speed machines through tracks that mix futuristic cities and abstract terrain. The single player campaign is straightforward but the real fun comes from the split-screen multiplayer where up to four players battle head-to-head. Controls are tight and responsive which makes the fast-paced races feel satisfying even if the graphics look rough by today’s standards. The vehicles carry over the same aesthetic as the 1993 game CyberRace which fans of the original might notice. The game’s main hook is its visual design influenced by the same creative team behind Syd Mead’s sci-fi concepts. While it didn’t make a big splash at launch it has a quiet following among retro racing enthusiasts. The multiplayer holds up better than most 90s titles of this type and the quick match setup makes it easy to jump in with friends. It’s not a deep experience but the raw speed and local competition keep it enjoyable for short bursts.
