"Diablo II: Resurrected looks stunning, and plays exactly like you may remember it. That’s both a good and a bad thing, depending on how you look at it. Loyal fans will appreciate the love and detail that has gone into this visual overhaul – especially with the cinematics – while hardcore fans will cry afoul for the missing LAN mode and yet to be launched ladder mode. New players may initially be tempted to try out Diablo II: Resurrected, but its unforgiving gameplay compared to the relaxed Diablo III will not have them playing for very long. Blizzard did an excellent job of bringing Diablo II to modern PCs and consoles, but a new lick of paint might not be enough to get people to play for very long."

Blizzard Entertainment released this 2021 remake of their 2000 action RPG on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. It updates the original Diablo II and its Lord of Destruction expansion with modern 3D graphics and new cinematics while keeping the core loop intact. You return to Sanctuary to hunt down Prime Evils like Mephisto and Baal alongside friends or solo. The game spans multiple difficulty levels and features distinct character classes ranging from the barbarian to the necromancer. It serves as a direct bridge for veterans who want nostalgia without technical hurdles and offers newcomers a chance to play a classic title that defined the genre two decades ago.
You spend your time grinding through hordes of monsters in dungeon crawls that feel dense and fast-paced. The interface lets you assign skills to hotkeys and set up items for quick use during combat. Each session involves clearing zones, looting gear with random stats, and managing an inventory full of junk versus gold. You choose a character class at the start and level them up to unlock new abilities as you face tougher enemies in Act 1 through Act 5. The game supports both single-player campaigns and online co-op where four players can tackle bosses together. Controls remain responsive with mouse and keyboard or controller support depending on your platform choice.
Critics and players agree this is a strong effort with an average Metacritic score of 80 and OpenCritic rating of 80 out of 100. Seventy-seven percent of critics recommend the title while IGDB users rate it at 84.2 based on 137 ratings. Digital Trends gave it a 90 noting the preservation of the original experience, and Game Informer called it a mastercraft remaster that changed the landscape forever. Community moods skew positive with high completion rates among players who finish all five acts. Average playtime hovers around 60 hours for a standard run but stretches well past 100 hours for those chasing endgame builds or collecting every legendary item in the game.
This title is worth buying if you want to revisit an ARPG classic without dealing with old engine bugs. The price reflects the value of getting both the base game and expansion in one package. You will unlock dozens of achievements that track your progress through different difficulties and character builds. It suits players who enjoy tactical combat and gear optimization over narrative pacing. Do not expect a modern open world or story-heavy RPG elements here. Stick with this if you need a solid grind session where loot drops matter more than cinematic cutscenes.
Pursue the mysterious Dark Wanderer and fight the denizens of hell as you uncover the fate of the Prime Evils Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal.
