Disney's DuckTales 2 is a side-scrolling adventure where Scrooge McDuck and his nephews chase scattered clues to a legendary treasure. You run, jump, and collect items across varied locations like Egyptian pyramids, Niagara Falls, and a Scottish castle. Each level has distinct hazards and boss fights, with Scrooge using tools like his money bin for attacks. The story involves outsmarting rival Glomgold, who’s revealed to be a shapeshifting robot. Gameplay mixes exploration with platforming, letting you switch between Scrooge and his nephews for different abilities. The game’s charm lies in its variety. Five main stages each offer unique themes and puzzles, plus a surprise twist when Webby is kidnapped. Co-op play with the nephews adds replay value, though it’s optional. Despite a 1993 release, the mix of humor, duck-themed gags, and tight controls keeps it feeling fresh. It’s a brisk, colorful romp that balances action with light puzzle-solving, appealing to fans of classic 16-bit platformers.
As the game opens, Huey runs to his uncle Scrooge McDuck with a torn piece of paper, which is a piece of a treasure map drawn by Fergus McDuck. Inspired to discover the hidden treasure left by Fergus, Scrooge starts an expedition to find the missing pieces, unaware that his archenemy Flintheart Glomgold is also after the lost treasure of McDuck. Scrooge travels to Niagara Falls, a pirate ship in the Bermuda Triangle, Mu, Egypt and Scotland. Each area has its own unique treasure that is guarded by a boss. After all five main stages are cleared, Webby is kidnapped by Glomgold and held for ransom on the pirate ship in the Bermuda Triangle. Scrooge arrives and gives Glomgold the treasures, only to discover that this "Glomgold" is actually a shapeshifting robot called the D-1000 programmed to destroy him. After the D-1000 is defeated, Glomgold sinks the ship and tries to take Scrooge and the treasures with it.
