You run a dwarf settlement buried deep underground. Your crew digs for treasure fights threats and generally causes chaos. Their goal is to dig deeper and hoard as much gold as possible before the environment or their own recklessness collapses the whole operation. You assign tasks guide their movements and scramble to reinforce tunnels as rockfalls and monsters attack. The deeper you go the more resources you find but also the more unstable everything becomes. The game ends when your town hall crumbles or your dwarves trigger a catastrophic chain reaction. Dwarfs!? released in 2011 and remains a cult favorite for its chaotic blend of resource management and survival tension. The PC Linux and Mac versions let you play solo with procedurally generated caves ensuring no two runs feel alike. The humor lies in the dwarves’ apathy, they’ll tunnel into a spider nest or blow up their own workshops without hesitation. The “Dwarf Cannon” which flings your own workers at enemies is both a last-resort tactic and a darkly funny highlight.
