About

Exocide drops you into a retro shooter world where your main job is keeping a robotic backpack happy while you blast bugs. You control two separate weapon systems at once, forcing you to switch between them quickly to handle the swarm. The story explains that giant insects went rogue after a war years ago and wiped out most of humanity. You play as one of the few surviving Handlers tasked with cleaning up the mess using heavy firepower. The gameplay focuses on constant movement and aggressive tactics to keep your gear from overheating or running out of ammo. The game nails that early 2000s look without feeling dated. Players often mention how intense the dual weapon switching feels compared to standard shooters where you just cycle through a list. The manual for the backpack system adds a layer of strategy since it needs attention to stay active during big fights. Community feedback highlights the frantic pace as both the main appeal and the biggest hurdle. It stays true to its roots by keeping things simple on the surface while demanding quick reflexes underneath.

Storyline

Years ago, several nations deployed giant combat-modified insects to aid in The Great War. This swarm of insects eventually turned in search of a food source to sustain their growing population. A decade of human genocide has wiped out most of the population. The remaining survivors have consolidated into a single fortified colony to fight extinction. You are the last living member of the Handlers, a highly trained special forces group that was originally tasked with raising and fighting alongside these giant insects during The Great War.
