Fantastic Fortune lets you guide one of three characters through a year of magic training in the fictional kingdom of Klein. Each protagonist, Diana, Mei, or Sylphis, has distinct traits and goals while navigating school life, spellcraft, and romantic options. The turn-based gameplay blends visual novel storytelling with simulation elements as you manage time between classes, social interactions, and personal development. Dialogue choices and relationship building shape outcomes in a branching narrative that shifts based on decisions made over the 52-week cycle. The game’s charm lies in its quirky character designs and lighthearted approach to fantasy tropes. With three distinct protagonists and multiple endings, replayability focuses on exploring different relationship paths and character arcs. Though its 1998 release date shows in the presentation by modern standards, the cult following on forums like Visual Novel Database still praises its whimsical worldbuilding. A niche pick for fans of older-school dating sims with a medieval twist.
The story is set in medieval times, in the planet Warand. A raising sim where you take control of one of three protagonists over the space of a year. Diana is the second Princess of the Kingdom of Klein (her hobby is collecting hats). Mei is a regular high school student from the human world who was accidentally summoned to the Royal Academy of Magic. Sylphis is a knight apprentice from a race that chooses their gender once they start puberty. The player's character will spend a year at Klein to achieve the proper magic abilities. Their fate is in the hands of the player.
