Firepower 2000 is a fast-paced scrolling shooter where you pilot either a gunship helicopter or an armored jeep through waves of enemy vehicles. Each level throws tanks, snowmobiles, and mechanical sea creatures at you as you blast through destructible environments. The vertical scrolling keeps things tight and chaotic, with power-ups and weapon upgrades adding variety to the relentless firefests. Split-screen multiplayer lets you team up or compete, though the focus stays squarely on raw shooting action. The game’s 90s charm comes from its over-the-top enemy designs and no-nonsense gameplay. While the difficulty spikes can feel abrupt by modern standards, fans of classic shooters praise its tight controls and replayability. With its mix of mechs, missiles, and multi-directional combat, Firepower 2000 carved a niche as a forgotten gem in the early '90s shooter scene.
A secret "underground race" on an island in the mid-Atlantic ocean has stolen top military vehicles and equipment from around the world and have rebuilt powerful war machines from them. They are even piloted by robots with one mission: to destroy. Military and intelligence officials of major countries have detected them, but they are afraid that they will be unable to prepare against an assault by this underground race. Their plan is to send you in to infiltrate their base and destroy them before they have a chance to unleash the war upon the rest of the world.
