Genji: Days of the Blade is a fast-paced action game set in feudal Japan where you control four warriors battling supernatural threats. Switch between Yoshitsune’s twin katanas, Benkei’s brute-force weapons, Shizuka’s chain blades, and Buson’s magic-infused double saber to clear levels teeming with enemies. Combat mixes quick-time combos and the Kamui system, where button-mashing sequences unleash chaos on crowds of foes. Levels alternate between historical landmarks and surreal fantasy zones, blending platforming, puzzles, and boss fights like squashing giant crabs. The game’s standout is its dynamic combat and the Kamui mechanic, which adds frantic flair to battles. Collectible Amahagane and Mashogane upgrade characters and weapons, while hidden items and scrolls offer temporary boosts. Though the story leans into classic samurai tropes, the mix of real-world settings and inventive boss design keeps the experience fresh.
