"Harvest Moon: Mad Dash on the Nintendo Switch might attract some attention on account of its affiliation with the very appreciated farming RPG series. That said, this puzzler spin-off (and therefore outside the main series) fails to make any good impression. Its challenges are empty, dull and uninteresting, the game's audiovisual environment is at a whole order below what the Switch can do and there's no moment whatsoever that genuinely stimulates the player (or players, given the multiplayer component)."

Harvest Moon for Girl is a farming life sim with RPG elements that lets players build a farm, interact with townsfolk, and manage daily chores. The mechanics follow the classic Harvest Moon formula but include adjusted systems for character interactions and seasonal tasks. Playing as a female protagonist, you start with no memory after a shipwreck and work to rebuild a farm while uncovering personal history and a mysterious connection to the town. The story adds light narrative twists but focuses on the core loop of planting crops, raising animals, and bonding with neighbors. Community feedback is mixed but leans positive among longtime fans. A user review highlights it as a “tweaked” version of earlier entries with enough changes to feel distinct. Critics were less impressed, with scores like 53/100 calling it a “title for smartphones” that lacks depth. Despite the polarized reception, the game remains a niche take on the series, offering familiar charm with a different perspective. It’s a straightforward play on the formula that some find refreshing, though others see as unpolished.
The game starts with the player washed up and unconscious, on the beach of Mineral Town. Suddenly, she has a flashback. In this flashback, she is on the side of a cruise ship staring at the sky and thinking about the her life's direction. She then meets a poet and ends up spending a lot of time with him as he teaches her a lot about living. One day, a storm hits the ship, causing a shipwreck. Claire then drifts onto the beach of Mineral Town, where she is rescued by Zack and one mystery boy. Claire then wakes up in an abandoned farm and Mayor Thomas introduces himself to her. Because she has nowhere to go, Mayor Thomas allows Claire to live on the farm. Claire, who now has a bit of amnesia, remembers the words of the poet and finding a meaning in life. She then decides to raise the farm and hunts for the mystery boy.

Okay so I finally tried Harvest Moon for Girl after hearing about it forever and it’s basically Back to Nature but with a few tweaks and you get to play as a girl which I didn’t realize was a big deal until now. The farming stuff is the same chill vibe you expect—planting crops, ...
